Welcome to the home of The Package
The Package Online Gaming Order can be found playing many online games including World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Guild Wars, Anarchy Online and the game responsible for our founding, Myth II. Members of The Package embrace fair play, respect for other gamers, healthy competitiveness but above all... good friendships. This friendship based gaming order has two factions:
The Elders of the Inner Circle:
This faction is the governing council of The Package Online Gaming Order, and as such holds no single person in the seat of power. All decisions regarding The Package as a whole are discussed and voted on by this Inner Circle. The Elders are comprised of the original members of the online gaming order formed in Myth II.
The Package
This faction (fondly nicknamed the 'Neopacks') is the latest wave of membership in The Package Online Gaming Order. Members in this faction come from a wide variety of games and gaming experiences, and form the working base of the organization.
The name "The Package" refers to a cohesive unit, combining the virtues of honor, respect, fair play, honesty, loyalty and friendship. Circa 1999 |

The All NEW Mariusnet v2 !

Zappo writes "Take a look around. I hope you like our new home.
This is a merger of MythForums.com and Mariusnet with many improvements.
Much of the old functionality of MythForums has been moved here, and what hasn't will be. Of the major things still needing to be moved are Stats/Ranks. Stats & Ranks still exist as they always have, they are just still on MythForums for now.
Existing Accounts - You can log in immediately with your existing Mariusnet metaserver username & password. No need to register again
New Accounts - the web accounts here and your game server accounts are one and the same. If you register an account here, the server account is automatically created. If you change your password here, it changes on the game server.
Clan - All Clan management functions have been moved here. Creating, Leaving or Joining a clan has never been easier. Just start a clan and send out some Clan Invitations. Joining a clan is as simple as the click of a button on your invitation.
Plugins Center - Has been moved here from MythForums and it has been given some updated functionality. I expect this to receive still further updates.
At the top of the "To Do" list is a complete port and rewrite of the stats, rankings & film uploads.
So, take a look around and check the place out. If you find any bugs or problems either post them here or in the Site Feedback board.
As an update to anyone requesting a new account or trying to retrieve a password for an old account:
Use a REAL Email Address. Registration requires email validation.
Remove 'marius_net@yahoo.com' from your spam filter or add it to the 'Allowed addresses' exceptions list
Find a way to let email from 'marius_net@yahoo.com' through your "Friends System" or other similar mail verifier/autoresponder... I'm not going to respond to any auto generated messages, ever. The responsibility of the email messages from here getting through is yours, not mine. You set it up, you find a way to let it through.

Another November 11th begins with my morning coffee, my toast, and the knowledge that none of the things I cherish would be as they are today without those brave men and women who gave their lives serving my country overseas.

Myth Tales Press Release
Posted by Mystic-Eye on Thursday, May 11 @ 02:23:52 CDT (280 reads) |

Anonymous writes "MYTHTALES.COM ANNOUNCES ALLIANCE WITH PLAYMYTH.NET TO PROVIDE FORUMS FOR VISITORS.
Los Angeles, April 27, 2006
Myth Tales is announcing that forum service will be available for visitors to the forthcoming fan fiction site courtesy of the primary Myth game server on the internet Playmyth.net. Visitors will be able to discuss and comment on stories published in this active community area.
Myth Tales is a forthcoming site designed to promote interest and activity amongst fans of the popular Myth computer strategy games. It is intended as a not-for-profit publishing venue for fiction writers.
Writers – as well as potential readers – are invited to visit the pre-site for Myth Tales. Writers are asked to submit, for fun, short stories based on the Myth universe. Accepted stories will be published on MythTales.com. Published writers may also be invited to contribute chapters to a collective novel called Corrin’s Tale.
This ground-breaking series of fantasy games were first created by Bungie Software in 1997 with the release of Myth: The Fallen Lords. This was followed by Myth II: Soulblighter. After Bungie’s acquisition by Microsoft, the series was taken over by Take 2 Interactive with the release of the prequel Myth III: The Wolf Age.
While featuring never-before seen levels of play technically, much of the success of the games was also due to the depth and detail of the fantasy world in which the games take place. Possessing a flavor and level of authenticity similar to Tolkien’s Middle-Earth, the Myth Universe also included it’s own unique storylines, histories and denizens.
Today, the Myth community is largely served online by PlayMyth.net. MythTales.com seeks to add a new dimension to the Myth universe by expanding on the myths themselves.

Remembrance Day
Posted by Mystic-Eye on Friday, November 11 @ 15:41:36 CST (353 reads) |
|
At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years continuous warfare. The allied armies had driven the German invaders back, having inflicted heavy defeats upon them over the preceding four months. In November the Germans called for an armistice (suspension of fighting) in order to secure a peace settlement. They accepted the allied terms of unconditional surrender.
The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month attained a special significance in the post-war years. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This first modern world conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. The allied nations chose this day and time for the commemoration of their war dead.
On the first anniversary of the armistice, 11 November 1919, the two minutes' silence was instituted as part of the main commemorative ceremony at the new Cenotaph in London. King George V personally requested all the people of the British Empire to suspend normal activities for two minutes on the hour of the armistice "which stayed the world wide carnage of the four preceding years and marked the victory of Right and Freedom." The two minutes' silence was popularly adopted and it became a central feature of commemorations on Armistice Day.
After the end of World War II, the Commonwealth and British governments changed the name to Remembrance Day. Armistice Day was no longer an appropriate title for a day which would commemorate all war dead.

Starting The Game off.... Virtual?
Posted by Bullet on Wednesday, June 29 @ 10:31:52 CDT (378 reads) |
|
A few days ago it was announced that two Minor League Baseball teams would start off their game virtually using two fans from each city to play the first two innings of the game on X-Box "MVP Baseball 2005". The Northern League had initially OK'd the idea, but now it seems they have pulled that promotion...
"After further review and discussion, I have decided that this concept as originally presented is not in the best interest of the Northern League," N.L. commissioner Mike Stone said in a league release. "Any promotion that could affect the outcome of a regular season game is not permissible. Ultimately, such an event could have an influence on the final standings, and this certainly challenges the integrity of the league."
Personally I think it was a bad idea to start off with, and I'm glad they came to their senses. What the heck were they thinking, of course it would affect the outcome of a game. Plus, how would it be for the fans that show up to watch the game? They'd have to sit through the first two innings watching two guys play X-box. That would get boring quick.
That's just one Pack's opinion though. Good Night Now!

the-package.net Website Refit

On this date, May 2nd, the-package.net completed it's final phase of website upgrades. This refit comes complete with the latest public build of phpnuke, and a totally new main theme. I feel particularly proud of this new install as The Package Online Gaming Order and the-package.net step into a new era.
Throughout the years, circa 1999, we have managed to gather together a fantastic group of diverse individuals, from different backgrounds, age groups, as well as different nations, who have stuck together though those good times and hard times that come and go during a Gaming Order's lifespan. I am proud to call each one of my Ordermates as brother, confidant and as a close friend, and know with certainty that the feeling is mutual. I dedicate this new home, and new future, to them.
Cheers!
